God Confidence Over Self Confidence

God Confidence Over Self Confidence

Trusting in ourselves to provide is a futile endeavor. We were never meant to make our own way. We have been created to do life with Him.

When we learn to turn away from the self confidence that the world teaches, we are able to lean into our confidence of God’s way. His way, most often, does not make sense to our logic driven minds. This is because His ways are above the world’s ways and His thoughts are above our thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9)

Placing our confidence in what we cannot see is no easy task. What we put into practice each day is what will determine where our confidence lies. To work harder and to find a way to make more provision for ourselves is naive.

When we are uncertain of what to do we must seek Him more. We must wait on His timing and provision. We must do the work of building our confidence in Him and not find ways to grow our capacity apart from Him. This is the practice that will sustain us, give us peace and bring abundance we did not know possible.

Don’t be so naive and self-confident. You’re not exempt. You could fall flat on your face as easily as anyone else. Forget about self-confidence; it’s useless. Cultivate God-confidence.

1 Corinthians 10:12 MSG

Considerations for your planner:

  • Where are you placing your confidence today? Write down all the ways you have confidence in your life (ie. in finances, in position, in job security, etc.) Then take a moment to write down how you place your confidence in God for these things.

A Prayer for Our Community:

Father, Thank You for guiding us in our journeys. Help us to lean on You more and trust in ourselves less. We want our trust in You to be what fills our hearts and minds. When our trust and confidence is in You we know all will be well. We know all is provided for. We know the world has no say over our lives. Amen.
